Awards and recognition looks a little different at Renton RFA in recent years. This year, we decided to celebrate our 2021 awards during a recent Governance Board meeting, to celebrate with the Board, our executive leadership, our members and their family and friends – both in person and virtually. Our end of the year awards include Officer of the Year, Emergency Medical Technician of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, and Civilian of the Year. Those awards went to the following individuals:
Officer of the Year: Lt. Brandon Myking
EMT of the Year: Eng. Bryan Estibal
Firefighter of the Year: Eng. Brett Bigger
Civilian of the Year: Christine Noddings
Our “…of the Year” awards are given to individuals who were nominated to receive a quarterly award throughout the year by their peers for going above and beyond the call of duty. A committee combs those nominations and selects the individuals they feel should receive the annual recognition. This is a daunting task, as so many of our members receive nominations and are deserving of the honor. We could not ask for a better team and we are so grateful for the opportunity to recognize their efforts throughout the year and in culmination at celebrations like this one.
In addition to these great awards, we also celebrated a couple of new promotions amongst both our firefighters and our civilian staff. For our firefighters, Dominick Shannon received a promotion from Firefighter to Lieutenant. For our civilian staff, Evyn Villa was promoted from an Administrative Specialist to the role of Finance Assistant.
We are extremely proud of each of these members and their accomplishments. Congratulations team!
