We are overjoyed by the response we received to Scout Night 2022. We had approximately 120 visitors come through the gates of Station 14 for this great event! A few years ago, we had the idea to create this event in response to the high number of inquiries we receive from scout groups throughout the community to help scouts earn their badges in key safety areas. We partnered up with other local agencies, such as Renton Police and Emergency Management, to create our very own Scout Night for the Renton community and help our scouts have a centralized place to learn a large number of fire and life safety lessons at once.
This year, scouts got to meet Renton’s finest and tour the ladder truck, fire engine, aid unit, police cruiser, and SWAT vehicle! They also learned important lessons on subjects such as:
- How to call 9-1-1
- Poison prevention
- Avoiding hazards
- Community safety
- Rope tying
- First Aid
- CPR
- Home fire escape planning
- Home fire safety
- and more!
Scout night is a very special event for us here at Renton RFA. It is one of our most anticipated public education events, driven by our Public Educator and Deputy Fire Marshal Sara Ferguson. We are extremely grateful to our partners in public service who join us each year for this even, including Renton PD and other City of Renton departments, as well as the Zone 3 Fire Cadets. Thanks to everyone who came out, despite the light drizzle, and made this event an amazing success. We look forward to seeing you again in 2023!
