Incident Summary:
January 31, 2023: Renton RFA responded to a building fire in Station 14’s area on the 1100 block of Oakesdale Ave SW, a building designated as a King County Permanent Supportive Housing multi-dwelling residence. Renton RFA responded with Tukwila Fire and 1 aid unit, 1 ladder unit, 3 engines, 1 officer rig and 2 investigator units for a total of 17 RFA personnel. Units arrived on scene to a 3-story building with alarm sounding that was partially evacuated. One unit reported a fire on the 3rd floor, contained to one room, with the fire sprinklers putting the fire out. Crews conducted a full search and reported nothing found. No casualties were reported. Fire investigators began their investigation, and the scene was turned over to King County Housing.

Incident Summaries:
February 5, 2023: Renton RFA responded to a building fire in Station 16’s area on the 5600 block of NE 1st Renton RFA responded with King County Medic One and 5 engines, 1 aid unit, 2 officer rigs for a total of 19 RFA personnel. Units arrived on scene to a working fire in an unoccupied single-family residence. The first unit to arrive reported smoke and flames from the roof then completed a 360 search. The source of the fire was located in the attic with unknown cause. Crews were notified of an off-duty Seattle firefighter who entered the residence for primary search to rescue dogs that were reported inside. RFA crews were immediately assigned for rescue/primary search then found the Seattle FF outside with 1 dog who confirmed 2 dogs remained inside. Crews quickly put out the fire, performed a complete search and reported nothing else found. The 2 remaining dogs were removed and uninjured, and the scene was turned over to the Renton RFA fire investigator.
February 27, 2023: Renton RFA responded to an apartment fire in Station 11’s area on the 300 block of Vuemont Pl NE. Renton RFA responded with Puget Sound RFA and King County Medic One and 7 engines, 2 aid units, 2 officer rigs for a total of 26 RFA personnel. Units received reports of smoke coming from the seams of the roof. On scene, crews attacked the main fire unit on the 2nd floor of the 3-story building, conducted a primary search and checked the surrounding areas. The resident residing in the fire unit was taken to the front of the building by a neighbor. He was treated then transported to Valley Medical Center. A second patient was found during the primary search, located directly above the main fire. She is blind and deaf and was carried out of the building. Crews remained with the patient who was evaluated by Medic One, then transported to VMC. The scene was turned over to Renton RFA fire investigators. One crew remained on scene for fire watch throughout the night.

March 4, 2023: Renton RFA responded to a motorized vehicle accident in Station 17’s area at the intersection of SE 192nd St & 129th Pl SE. Renton RFA responded with Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority and King County Medic One and 3 engines, 2 aid units and 1 officer rig for a total of 14 RRFA personnel. Units arrived at a serious head-on collision on a 2-lane residential road. One patient needed extrication from their vehicle. Two patients, the driver and passenger of the other vehicle, also required extrication. The incident was upgraded to a Zone 3 rescue response for extrication. All three patients were extricated, treated, and transported – two were taken to Harborview Medical Center and one to Valley Medical Center. The scene was turned over to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
March 13, 2023: Renton RFA responded to a building fire in Station 13’s area on the 2000 block of Benson Rd S. Renton RFA responded with 3 engines and 1 aid unit for a total of 11 RRFA personnel. Units arrived at a large 2-story strip mall with nothing visible and investigated. Crews discovered water flowing from the ceiling on a 1st floor unit that flooded the area. On the 2nd floor, crews a light haze from the dental office and upgraded the incident to a commercial fire. The source of the fire was put out by the sprinkler system but was still smoldering. The fire was put out and the building searched for fire extension and none was found. Building tenants arrived and the scene was turned over to Renton RFA fire investigators.
March 18, 2023: Renton RFA responded to a motorized vehicle accident in Station 11’s area at the intersection of SW Sunset Blvd & Oakesdale Ave SW. Renton RFA responded with Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Renton Police and King County Medic One and 2 engines and 1 aid unit for a total of 8 RRFA personnel. Units arrived on scene to a single-car rollover accident with one driver. Crews arrived to find the driver had been ejected from the vehicle and unresponsive. The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.
March 31, 2023: Renton RFA responded to a residential fire in Station 11’s area on the 600 block of S 18th Renton RFA responded with 5 engines, 1 aid unit and 2 officer rigs for a total of 19 RRFA personnel. Units arrived at a medium one-story house with smoke on two sides. Crews met a resident in the driveway who stated the fire was in the basement and he was the only occupant. Crews put out the fire and completed a search to check for extension and nothing was found. Firefighters assisted the fire investigator. After inspection, the home was returned to the homeowner. The Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced resident.
