Renton Fire Welcomes Six New Recruits

Renton Fire Welcomes Six New Recruits

Renton Regional Fire Authority proudly welcomes six new firefighter recruits as they begin their first day with the organization. This week marks their official “zero week” — an important onboarding period focused on welcoming them to our fire family and preparing them for the rigorous path ahead.

During zero week, our new recruits will be introduced to the mission and values of Renton Fire, assigned a mentor, and given an overview of daily life at our stations. They’ll meet team members across the organization, learn about the communities they’ll serve, and begin forming the strong bonds that define fire service culture.

Following that, they will enter the South King County Fire Training Consortium’s Recruit Academy — an intensive 20-week program designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed for a successful firefighting career.

While in the academy, recruits will undergo training in:

  • Live fire behavior and suppression tactics
  • Search and rescue
  • Ground and aerial ladder operations
  • Vehicle extrication
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
  • And much more

This demanding program prepares firefighters not only to respond to emergencies but to serve as calm, capable first responders during the most difficult moments in community member’s lives.

These six individuals were selected to join Renton Fire because they demonstrated a strong desire to serve others and a deep commitment to our communities. Over the next several months, they will dedicate themselves fully to becoming exceptional firefighters trained to protect and support the Renton community.

As they begin this journey, we invite the community to share in our pride. These recruits represent the next generation of public servants — hardworking, community-minded individuals who have answered the call to serve. Their future success is something we can all look forward to.
