In a recent trip to Washington D.C., Renton Fire Chief Rick Marshall joined other fire chiefs from around the country to meet with national leadership and discuss the future of emergency response. Among those leaders were Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, Congresswoman Dr. Kim Schrier, Senator Patty Murray and Senator Maria Cantwell. Discussions throughout the week centered around creating an understanding of the services provided by the fire department and recognizing where further support is needed from elected officials for the betterment of local communities.
Upon his return to Washington State, Chief Marshall also met with Congressman Adam Smith to review how Renton Regional Fire Authority is providing service to his constituents and discuss support needs. The conversation included issues of first responder interoperability, urban interface/wildland fire concerns, and effective management of non-emergency calls on emergency response. Chief Marshall outlined several ways Renton RFA is tackling these obstacles through strategic planning and strong relationships with other local agencies.
Renton RFA remains grateful for Representative Smith’s unwavering support and commitment to public safety.
