Renton RFA firefighters and staff volunteered their time to rekindle the ‘Fill the Boot’ tradition this year, raising funds and awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Organized by Lieutenant Dominick Shannon, Local 864 firefighters and Renton RFA staff took to the streets collecting donations from the local community to support this great cause.
MDA and the IAFF have a long-standing partnership, but due to COVID-19, public fundraising events like this had been put on hold for over two years. Lieutenant Shannon and other members of Local 864, as well as members of Renton RFA’s civilian staff, took it upon themselves to spearhead this effort and volunteer their time to support a cause near and dear to their (and our) hearts. We are extremely proud of their dedication to giving back to the community.
The team behind this event raised over $5,000 for MDA!
Congratulations to Local 864 and the Renton RFA members who dedicated their time and energy toward this wonderful, and highly successful event! We know our members are the best around, but we are always impressed with their above and beyond dedication to public service. Thank you, team!
