ABOUT THE CITIZEN ADVISORY PANEL
Appointed by the Renton RFA Fire Chief, the Citizen Advisory Panel (CAP) provides an invaluable service to the Renton community by advising Renton RFA on a wide variety of subjects that aid the Governance Board and Fire Chief in their decision-making process. Effective citizen participation is a vital tool for our agency, and the CAP brings together viewpoints from persons of wide-ranging interests, allowing us access to voices that might not otherwise be heard.
Like Renton RFA, the mission of the CAP is to provide public input that ultimately helps make the Renton, District 25, and District 40 safer, healthier, and stronger.

CAP Requirements
Appointment to the CAP is a great opportunity for citizens who want to participate in public service with our organization. There is no political or government experience necessary to apply for a position on the panel. Any citizen who resides in the response boundaries of Renton RFA is eligible for membership. Non-resident business owners and non-resident property owners are also eligible but cannot make up more than 50% of the panel. The panel consists of a minimum of three (3) members, up to a maximum of six (6) members.
CAP members will serve for terms of three (3) years and may be reappointed on a case by case basis. The panel will meet on a Thursday (TBD) each quarter at 5:00 p.m. at Renton RFA headquarters.
CAP Membership
Members of the CAP are selected by the Renton RFA Fire Chief. To be considered, you must complete the application on this page or fill out an application located at the Renton RFA Administrative Office. The Fire Chief will review all submissions and may request interviews before making a selection.
