Cases of COVID-19 are on the rise and we know that one of the best defenses against the spread is early detection and quarantine. That is why Renton RFA has dedicated firefighters to assist with local, FREE testing sites, to make testing available to everyone in our community. If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or display any combination of the symptoms below, it may be in your best interest to get tested for the virus.
COVID-19 symptoms include:
- fever or chills
- cough
- shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- fatigue
- muscle or body aches
- headache
- new loss of taste or smell
- sore throat
- congestion or runny nose
- nausea or vomiting
- diarrhea
What you’ll need to get free testing:

- A photo ID with your date of birth. Testing is available regardless of your citizenship/immigration status.
- Your insurance card, if you have one. Insurance is not required to receive testing. You will not be charged for the test if you do not have insurance.
Scheduling a Test
There are several testing sites in our area. You can select from the closest options listed below, or see more options on the King County COVID-19 testing site webpage. Once you determine the right testing site for you – you can register for your test online. There is a separate registration for people who have no symptoms or people who are experiencing symptoms, so please make sure to choose the appropriate registration link.

Visit the Testing Site
- After registration, you will be able to drive or walk to the testing site at your scheduled time.
- The process will take about 15 minutes. Wear your face covering when visiting the site.
- After the test, remember to save the QR code that is given to you at the test site. Here’s an example of the QR code:
Getting Your Results
- You will not be notified when results are available.
- Access your results directly by focusing on the QR code with your Smartphone camera and follow the link, OR
- Visit the UW Medicine website and then enter the 16-digit retrieval code and your date of birth on the page.
- Expect results in 48-72 hours.
