January 12, 2026 marked the first Renton Regional Fire Authority (Renton RFA) Governance Board meeting of the year. The organization was excited to welcome returning Board Member Ruth Pérez, representing the City of Renton, and new Board Member Steve Parsons, representing King County Fire District 40, to the Board in 2026.
The Renton RFA Governance Board is composed of three representatives from the City of Renton, two representatives from King County Fire District 25, and two representatives from King County Fire District 40. Renton City Councilmember Ruth Pérez was elected by her fellow councilmembers to serve a three-year term on the Board. Fire District 40 Fire Commissioner Steve Parsons was also elected by his fellow commissioners to serve on the Board.
In a statement issued on December 22, 2025, the City of Renton had this to say about the electing members to the Renton RFA Governance Board, “The process of electing members to serve on the Governance Board is grounded in the values of experience, trust, and responsibility. Electing a representative means choosing someone who has earned the trust of their colleagues. This selection is not just about filling a position, but about ensuring that the individuals chosen can truly represent the collective interests of the community they serve.”
King County Fire District 25 Fire Commissioner Sean Cook also led the meeting, as the newly appointed Chair of the Board, and Renton City Councilmember Ed Prince was appointed as Vice Chair for the 2026 term.
Renton RFA is grateful for the service and exceptional contributions of the members who cycled off the Board in 2025, and is excited to welcome these fresh faces and perspectives to the Board in 2026.
