What is the event photo/video policy?
Scout Night is a public event, held at a public venue. As such, photos and videos will be taken by the City of Renton (City) and Renton Regional Fire Authority (Renton RFA) that may be used to inform and/or educate on future events, programs, and services sponsored by these agencies. It is important to note that this media may be subject to public records request.
Both the City and Renton RFA respect community member involvement in these events and will endeavor to photograph or record community members indirectly or from a back or side perspective – focused on their own staff engagement or the event as a whole. If for any reason either agency wishes to take front-facing media, that may be specifically and intentionally used to promote sponsored events in the future, they may approach parents/guardians to request consent through a signed photo release waiver. Signing the release waiver is at the discretion of the parent/guardian and may be declined without incident.
No persons, whether a release waiver is signed or not, will be compensated in any way for any media that is generated at this event or used after the event.
What about children outside of kindergarten through 5th grade?
We understand that some K-5th grade children may have friends or family that wish to accompany them to this event who are below or above the K-5th grade threshold. Those children are also welcome to attend. Please note, however, that the activities provided at this event are specifically designed to resonate with children in the K-5th grade range and may not meet the skill, interest, or development level of children outside that range.
Infants, toddlers, and children outside the K-5th grade range do not need to be registered to accompany a K-5th grade attendee.
