King County Fire District 40 – Fire Commissioner Position #2
KCFD 40 Fire Commissioner Vacancy
Public Notice: King County Fire District 40 Fire Commissioner Vacancy – Position #2
In 2025, Fairwood voters elected Renton RFA as their permanent fire and emergency services agency. Part of that commitment included streamlining the King County Fire District 40 (KCFD 40) Board of Fire Commissioners from five to three members, which reduces cost and improves efficiency, while maintaining strong community representation.
As part of that adjustment, the KCFD 40 Board of Fire Commissioners has nominated current Fire Commissioner Joe Pratt to fill a vacancy on the Board. This is a reappointment of the nominated individual from Commissioner Position #5 to Commissioner Position #2, to provide that the term of each commissioner will be staggered. While the District is required by statute to solicit additional nominations, the intent is to reappoint the nominated individual.
Pursuant to RCW 42.12.080, the District will accept additional nominations to fill the vacancy provided such nominations are received prior to April 29, 2026.
The minimum qualifications to hold office are:
- U.S. Citizen
- 18 years old or older
- Registered voter residing in the District for at least 30 days
Nominations shall be submitted using the electronic form below.
